Jim has 32 years of investigative and dignitary protection experience. He previously served as a Committee Member for the Missouri State Investigators Association. He was also Investigator for the Legal Counsel for the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Investigative Consultant with the Johnson City Police Department in Texas.
Jim is a Certified Instructor the International Association of Professional Protection Agents.
Matt Hunter is a 25 year veteran of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and was the Division Commander of the Field Operations Division. He oversaw Road Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Narcotic Investigations, and Tactical Operations (S.T.A.R. Team).
Captain Hunter started his career in the Detention Division and was soon transferred to the Narcotics Unit. During this time he conducted several hundred narcotic investigation to include covert purchasing of narcotics, search warrants, and reverse sales. He also assisted as a covert operative in homicide investigations and murder for hire cases.
After several years he transferred to the Road Patrol and assigned to the Special Tactics And Response or Tactical Team. His previous skills in the Narcotics Unit helped educate fellow deputies and tactical operators with interview and investigation skills of narcotics on street level. He also applied his training and experience to the calls for service in cases such as burglary, larceny, and broaden his investigational skills, which then led him to his next assignment as a Detective in the Criminal Investigations Unit.
During this time he investigated hundreds of cases of various crimes to include homicide, attempted murder, burglary, larceny and yes even mailbox vandalism. However investigating various crimes made him a well-rounded law enforcement officer. He consistently had an 80% clearance rate of all cases for the next 9 years which led to his promotion to Detective Sergeant. He then began to instruct new detention personnel in report writing, crime scene processing, evidence collection. At which time he became a guest instructor for the Missouri State Investigators Association where he gave instruction on death investigation, interview and interrogations.
He is a past Vice President of the Missouri State Investigators Association and current Board Member, and current Executive Board Member and Director of Region1 Northern Missouri of the Missouri Crime Prevention. Currently graduated from the Northwestern University of Police Command Staff and NTOA SWAT Command Training. He has a passion for education and passing his knowledge on to younger law enforcement officer to prepare them better for the world they have not truly seen yet.
